Obverse description A crowned ruler stands within a sailing ship, facing forward, brandishing a sword in the right hand while bearing a shield displaying the provincial arms of Overijssel in the left. A banner bearing an inverted letter C is displayed at the stern, and a large rose adorns the hull of the vessel. The design closely follows the tradition of English rose nobles, adapted here for the civic coinage of Kampen. The circumferential Latin legend runs along the outer border of the coin.
