Obverse description Central field bearing a four-line Kufic Arabic religious or dynastic inscription, enclosed within two concentric circles forming an inner border. A further circular marginal legend in Kufic script occupies the area between the outer circle and the coin's edge, following the standard Fatimid epigraphic coin type. The lettering is characteristic of the angular, formal Kufic style employed on Sicilian Fatimid gold coinage of the mid-to-late 11th century.
