Obverse description The entire obverse field is occupied by a multi-line funerary Latin inscription recording the key biographical dates of Karl X Gustav. The legend is arranged in seven lines of Roman capital lettering and is enclosed within an ornamental wreath border consisting of stylized laurel or olive branches tied with a decorative knot at the top and bottom, framing the inscription in the fashion typical of Swedish commemorative coinage of the mid-seventeenth century. The outer border of the coin features a beaded or rope-like rim. There is no effigy; the design relies entirely on the epigraphic content as a memorial record.
