Obverse description Within a pearled border, the crowned shield of West-Friesland is displayed beneath a tourney helmet surmounted by a smaller West-Frisian coat of arms as crest. The heraldic composition is rendered in the late Renaissance style typical of Dutch provincial coinage of the period. The surrounding Latin legend is separated by decorative stops and runs along the outer rim of the coin.
