Reverse description The crowned shield of the County of Holland, bearing the rampant lion passant, is displayed centrally beneath an elaborate ornate tournament helmet surmounted by a crest, all flanked by decorative baroque mantling extending into the fields. The helmet and mantling are rendered with considerable sculptural depth, characteristic of the heraldic engraving conventions of the Dutch Renaissance period. A beaded inner circle frames the central device, with a Latin legend running between the inner and outer beaded rims. A rosette mintmark for the Dordrecht mint appears within the legend.
