Obverse description Half-length armored bust of a prince (likely William of Orange or his successor) facing three-quarters to the right, wearing elaborately engraved plate armor with a ruffled collar and holding an upright sword in the right hand. The figure is rendered in high relief with fine detail on the chainmail and armor ornamentation, characteristic of late 16th-century Dutch hammered coinage. The date 1591 appears in the upper field. The surrounding legend reads VIGILATE DEO CONFIDENTES, separated by star stops, enclosed within a beaded inner border.
