| Obverse description | Central field occupied by the Arabic legend 'السلطان نادر' (al-Sultan Nadir) rendered in bold nasta'liq calligraphy, the letters intricately intertwined and occupying the full width of the design. The inscription is enclosed within a prominent circular beaded border, characteristic of Afsharid hammered coinage. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, with the die-struck relief showing strong, confident strokes typical of the Qandahar mint. The surrounding field between the legend and the beaded border is left plain, lending emphasis to the royal title. The overall design reflects the austere yet commanding aesthetic of Nader Shah's monetary programme. |
