| Obverse description | Central field occupied by a bold nasta'liq Arabic legend reading 'al-Sultan Nadir' enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The inscription is rendered in high relief against a flat, unadorned field, characteristic of Afsharid hammered coinage. The surrounding area between the beaded circle and the coin's rim is plain, giving the central legend visual prominence. The die work displays the typical irregularity associated with hand-struck Persian issues of this period. |
