| Reverse description | The reverse presents an equally bold thuluth calligraphic field bearing the mint and date formula, divided into registers by ruled lines that create a quadripartite layout. Floral rosettes, berry clusters, and delicate foliate sprays ornament the spaces between the calligraphic strokes, consistent with Qajar mint practice of the period. A circular border frames the entire composition, enclosing the legend within a well-defined boundary. The inscription records the place of minting as Maragheh and the AH date 1212, corresponding to 1797 CE. The deeply incised, high-relief lettering is characteristic of the hammered die technique used at provincial Qajar mints. |
