Obverse description The obverse field is entirely occupied by the Shi'a kalima rendered in bold nastaliq calligraphy, arranged in three horizontal registers separated by ruled lines and interspersed with decorative rosette pellets. The uppermost register bears the shahada 'La ilaha illa Allah' (There is no god but God), the middle register continues with 'Muhammad rasul Allah' (Muhammad is the Messenger of God), and the lower register carries the Alid formula 'Ali wali Allah' (Ali is the friend of God). The entire inscription is enclosed within a beaded inner border, itself surrounded by an outer band of large pellets following the irregular flan edge, reflecting the characteristic aesthetic of early Qajar hammered coinage.
