Rhode Island became the 13th state in the 50 State Quarters program when its quarter was released in 2001, but this 2003 Federal Reserve Note was issued under the standard Series 2003 printing run — one of the last series before the Federal Reserve introduced the redesigned multicolor $20 in 2003 and subsequently rolled out updated designs across other denominations. Notes from this series bear the signatures of Treasurer Rosario Marin's successor, Rosario Marin having signed the prior series; Series 2003 carries the signatures of Anna Escobedo Cabral and John Snow.
