| Obverse description | Draped bust of Marianne in the Ceres type, facing right, her hair elaborately arranged with a wreath of wheat ears and laurel, rendered in the neoclassical style after the engraving of Émile Rogat. The effigy dominates the field with fine medallic relief characteristic of early 19th-century French coinage design. The circular legend arcs around the periphery, reading RÉVOLUTION FRANÇAISE to the left and PROJET 1988 to the right, with the engraver's signature E.ROGAT inscribed in the lower left field. The truncation of the neck is bare, and the portrait displays the refined classical idealism associated with the Revolutionary period aesthetic. |
