| Obverse description | The Irish Free State harp — a stylised rendering of the historic Brian Boru harp — is depicted centrally in high relief, facing left, with finely engraved strings and ornate forepillar detailing. The legend 'SAORSTÁT ÉIREANN' arcs around the harp in Gaelic script, divided to either side of the device. The date is split across the lower field, with '19' to the left and '28' to the right of the harp's soundboard. The coin's border is defined by a continuous milled rim. The design was executed by Percy Metcalfe. |
