| Obverse description | Central design features a large cross pattée surmounting a quartered royal arms shield, the quarters bearing the lions of England and the fleurs-de-lis of France in the medieval heraldic tradition of the House of York. Two crossed swords or sceptres flank the central device diagonally. The shield is set above a stylised ship hull rendered in wavy lines, evoking the reverse type of the gold Angel or Ryal coinage of the Yorkist period. A Gothic Latin legend in raised relief runs around the periphery within a beaded border, with a pellet or rosette stop visible between words. |

| Reverse description | Plain field bearing three lines of incuse raised lettering centred across the coin. The uppermost line reads RICHARD III in bold serif capitals, the middle line gives the regnal dates 1483-85, and the lower portion of the field bears the publisher's initials WR, identifying the issuer of this modern replica piece. The design is entirely typographic with no figurative elements, providing clear identification of the historical monarch commemorated. |
