Obverse description Diademed and draped effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, depicted at approximately 64 years of age, wearing the Royal Diadem, a necklace, and earrings. The legend ELIZABETH II D·G·REGINA arcs along the upper periphery, with the date 1996 positioned in the lower field. The portrait is executed in a refined relief style consistent with the Dora de Pédery-Hunt effigy used on Canadian coinage of this period.
