Keatinge & Ball operated out of Columbia, South Carolina after relocating from Richmond, and became one of the Confederacy's most active currency printers — handling not only Confederate Treasury notes but contracts for several individual states. Florida's Civil War-era fractional and dollar issues were among the smaller state currency programs of the period, reflecting the state's limited banking infrastructure and sparse population relative to other Confederate states.
This is a replica. Originals from Florida's third issue are genuinely scarce; Florida simply did not have the commercial volume to push large quantities into heavy circulation.
