Reverse description Three standing female allegorical figures in classical drapery occupy the central field; the left figure holding a laurel branch represents the Netherlands, the right figure represents Belgium, and the central figure facilitates a handshake between the two. To the lower left the Dutch coat of arms shield is visible, and to the lower right the arms of Liège with a lion and column. The date 19 OCTOBRE 1861 appears in the exergue, with the legend arching above.
