The curved legend along the upper rim reads '1882 - N.W.M.P. HEADQUARTERS ESTABLISHED IN REGINA', and an explanatory inscription in the lower field describes the relocation of the N.W.M.P. headquarters from Fort Walsh to Regina on December 6th, 1882.
