Obverse description Armored and laureate bust of Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester, facing right within a beaded inner circle, wearing a ruff collar and elaborately engraved pauldron. The effigy is rendered in high relief with fine detail to the facial features, beard, and period military dress. The surrounding legend is separated from the central portrait by a raised beaded border. The flat, square klippe flan is clearly visible at the corners beyond the circular design field.
