Obverse description Central device depicting a Gothic castle with three towers, the central tower surmounted by a small crown, set within a beaded inner circle. The castle, emblematic of the Kingdom of Castile, is rendered in a stylized Gothic manner characteristic of late 14th-century Castilian coinage. A mint mark 'B' for Burgos appears within or below the castle. The surrounding field is enclosed by a beaded border, beyond which runs the circular Latin legend.
