Reverse description Central field bears the quartered arms of Castile and Leon within a beaded inner circle: the first and fourth quarters displaying the castle of Castile (a triple-towered fortification), and the second and third quarters showing the rampant lion of Leon, all separated by a plain cross. A beaded border encloses the heraldic shield. The surrounding Latin legend reads IUSTICIAM TUAM FILIE REGIS, separated by cross pattée stops, completing the Psalm verse begun on the obverse. The heraldic rendering is consistent with late 14th-century Castilian hammered coinage.
