Obverse description Central field features a Gothic castle with an arched gateway, flanked by two towers surmounted by a royal crown, all set within a beaded inner circle. The castle motif, rendered in high relief characteristic of hammered medieval coinage, is enclosed by an inner legend band separated from the outer border by a second beaded circle. The outer circular legend reads SI DOMINVS MICHI ADIVTOR NOM TIM EBO QVI FECIAD MICHI OMO, a devotional Latin inscription derived from Psalm 118, punctuated by small rosette stops. The overall design reflects the Gothic heraldic style typical of Iberian medieval silver coinage of the 14th century.

Reverse description Central device consists of a quatrefoil formed by four lobed arches, within which are arranged five Portuguese royal shields bearing five bezants in saltire (quinas), one at center and one in each lobe of the quatrefoil, all in high relief. The shields are rendered in the Gothic heraldic tradition characteristic of 14th-century Portuguese coinage. The design is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, beyond which runs the outer circular legend FERNANDVS D G REX PORTVGALI ALGA, identifying the issuer as Fernando I, King of Portugal and the Algarve, separated from the coin edge by a rope or beaded border. The reverse composition closely follows the standard type established for Fernando I reais and reflects strong French influence in its quatrefoil arrangement.
