Obverse description Crowned frontal effigy of King Enrique II, shown as a enthroned or bust figure facing the viewer, wearing a crenellated crown with visible side towers flanking the head, evoking the castles of Castile. The king's robes are depicted in a stylized Gothic manner typical of late 14th-century Castilian hammered coinage. A mint mark, likely the letter 'S' for Salamanca, appears in the field to the left of the bust. The surrounding Latin legend reads ENRICVS DEI GRACIA REX CASTELLE, separated from the central device by an inner beaded circle.
