| Reverse description | Central device consisting of a cross pattée formed by four armorial shields arranged in cruciform pattern, each shield bearing the Portuguese quinas (five escutcheons), typical of medieval Portuguese royal arms as rendered on the billon coinage of Duarte I. The shields are separated by decorative elements and enclosed within a circular border. A peripheral legend in Latin uncial script surrounds the entire composition, naming the king. The hammered technique results in an irregular, slightly convex flan with characteristic surface texture. |
