| Reverse description | Quartered royal arms of Castile and León displayed within a plain cross, with castles (for Castile) in the first and fourth quarters and rampant lions (for León) in the second and third quarters. The shield is set within a beaded inner circle, and the surrounding Latin legend, naming Alfonso as king by divine grace, runs between the inner circle and the toothed outer rim. The flan is irregular and somewhat broad, consistent with hand-hammered production at the Toledo mint. The relief is bold, with the heraldic devices clearly articulated in the late medieval Castilian style. |
