| Obverse description | Central field depicts a seated Buddha figure in dhyana mudra (meditation posture), rendered in a frontal, schematic style characteristic of early medieval Bengali coinage. The figure is shown with legs crossed and hands resting in the lap, set within a plain inner border. Surrounding the central motif is a beaded or granulated outer border. The overall design is struck on an irregular flan with shallow relief, typical of hammered gold issues of the Samatata region. |
