Reverse description An ornate multi-armed cross occupies the central field, its elaborately styled arms radiating symmetrically toward the beaded border. The cross design is characteristic of early seventeenth-century Alsatian civic coinage. The encircling Latin legend reads ★ EX. VNO. OMN: NOST. SALVS., meaning 'From one comes our salvation,' and is separated from the cross by a plain inner circle.
