Obverse description Central cross composed of eight interlocking letter Ls, each arm surmounted by a royal crown, radiating from a central pellet within a beaded inner circle. Four fleurs-de-lis occupy the angles formed between the arms of the cross. The surrounding legend reads LVD. M. XIIII. D. G. FR. ET. N. R., identifying Louis XIV as King of France and Navarre.
