Obverse description Laureate head of Jupiter facing left, rendered in bold relief with characteristic flowing hair and beard in the Italic style. Five pellets arranged in the field to the left of the head serve as the mark of value indicating the quincunx denomination. The portrait displays strong, naturalistic modeling typical of Venusian bronze coinage of the Second Punic War period. The flan is slightly irregular, as is characteristic of provincial Italian bronze issues of this era.
