| Obverse description | Laureate bust of Domitian facing right, depicted with a draped shoulder, rendered in high relief with characteristic late first-century Roman portraiture. The emperor's facial features are firmly modelled, with a strong jaw and prominent brow. The circular legend surrounds the bust, running from lower left to upper right across the flan. The flan is irregular in shape, typical of hammered quinarii of this period. The portrait conveys imperial authority consistent with official Rome Mint output of AD 88. |
