Reverse description A fasces-like bundle of rods bound together and set upright within a flaming crucible, symbolizing the Gonzaga impresa of trial by fire and the notion of virtue tested and purified. The device is rendered in low relief at the center of the coin, enclosed within a beaded inner border. The surrounding legend, separated by star-shaped stops, reads around the entire periphery of the flan. The imagery references Psalm 139 and reflects the humanist and dynastic symbolism cultivated under Francesco II Gonzaga.
