Obverse description Draped bust of Pope Urban VIII facing right within a beaded inner circle, with the date 1629 incorporated into the circumferential legend. A small escutcheon of Vice-Legate Cosimo Bardi appears below the bust. The legend, rendered in Latin capital letters, encircles the portrait and identifies the pontiff by name and title. The overall style is characteristic of early seventeenth-century papal coinage produced for the Comtat Venaissin.
