Obverse description Draped bust of Pope Clement VIII facing left, wearing the papal camauro and mozetta, with a short beard rendered in fine detail. The effigy is boldly struck in high relief, occupying the central field of the coin. A circular Latin legend runs along the periphery, separated from the bust by an inner beaded border. The overall style is characteristic of late Renaissance pontifical coinage from the Avignon region.

Reverse description An oval coat of arms of Charles of Conti, pro-legate of Avignon, displayed in the centre of the field within ornate cartouche-style mantling, surmounted by a cardinal's broad-brimmed hat with pendant tasselled cords on either side. The arms are rendered in the heraldic tradition of the period, showing a chequered or lozengy field. A Latin legend encircles the design, divided by small star-shaped stops, reading continuously around the outer border within a beaded rim.
