| Obverse lettering | IMP VESPASIAN AVG (Translation: Supreme commander Vespasian, emperor.) |
| Reverse description | The reverse presents a large eagle standing facing, wings spread, rendered in relief at the center of the field, a Flavian dynastic symbol of imperial authority. The surrounding legend P M TR P P P COS VIII S C is arranged in the field and around the periphery in Latin capitals, attesting to Vespasian's priestly, tribunician, and consular titles, with the senatorial authorization S C prominently placed. The composition is typical of Vespasianic quadrantes struck at the Rome Mint. Green patination and surface wear are consistent with extended circulation. The flan edge is irregular, as expected for hammered coinage of this denomination. |
