| Reverse description | Three legionary standards displayed in a row occupying the full field: a central aquila (eagle standard) flanked on each side by a military vexillum or signum topped with a decorative finial and adorned with multiple phalerae (disc ornaments) along the shaft. The standards rest on a base line, with the abbreviated ethnic legend of Nicaea inscribed between the lower portions of the standards within a beaded border. The composition is a bold, emblematic design characteristic of Bithynian provincial civic coinage celebrating the city's Roman military allegiance. |
