Obverse description Central device depicting a modius (grain measure) set upon a tripod base, rendered in relief within a plain field. The legend naming the moneyer Caius Naevius Capella is distributed around the periphery in Latin capitals. The coin is struck on an irregular flan typical of Augustan-era bronze coinage, with a beaded border visible along the rim. The composition is characteristic of the quadrans denomination issued under Augustus by the tresviri monetales.
