Obverse description Pearl-diademed bust of the emperor facing right, rendered in the debased Frankish imitation of late Roman imperial style. The effigy displays a stylized drapery at the shoulder, with the pearl diadem rendered as a row of beads encircling the head. The facial features are crudely executed, characteristic of Merovingian pseudo-imperial coinage. A circular Latin legend surrounds the bust within the coin's irregular flan.
