Reverse description A stylised bunch of grapes on a vine with leaves occupies the central field, a motif frequently employed on Judaean coinage in accordance with Jewish religious sensibilities avoiding figural representation. Flanking the vine cluster and partially encircling it is a wreath border. The abbreviated Greek legend Ν ΕΘ, standing for ΕΘΝΑΡΧΟΥ (Ethnarch), appears within the field, referencing Archelaus's title as Ethnarch of Judaea, Samaria, and Idumaea. The flan is irregular in shape with a sandy, encrusted patina, and the strike is off-centre in places, characteristic of hand-hammered provincial bronze issues.
