Obverse description Paleo-Hebrew inscription filling the field, reading 'Yehudah the High Priest and the Council of the Jews,' rendered in ancient Hebrew script arranged in multiple lines across the flan. The legend is the principal design element, with no figurative imagery present. The die is struck on an irregularly shaped bronze flan characteristic of Hasmonean coinage of this period. The surfaces display the typical patination and flan irregularities consistent with hammered prutot of the late second century BC.
