| Obverse description | The field displays a collage of Maltese imagery including depictions of historical monuments such as the Mosta Dome and the Auberge de Castille, ancient megalithic temples, and traditional figures, framed by a gilt border with twelve stars. In the centre, two coin effigies are shown in relief: one bearing the Maltese coat of arms with the legend MALTA and date 2008, and the other depicting the Auberge de Castille gate with the denomination 50.
