Obverse description The field displays a collage of Maltese imagery including depictions of historical monuments such as the Mosta Dome and the Auberge de Castille, ancient megalithic temples, and traditional figures, framed by a gilt border with twelve stars. In the centre, two coin effigies are shown in relief: one bearing the Maltese coat of arms with the legend MALTA and date 2008, and the other depicting the Auberge de Castille gate with the denomination 50. The legend MALTA appears in gilt letters along the upper border.
