Reverse description Central denomination numeral '50' in large bold figures occupies the field, with CENTIMES inscribed below and the date 1941 at the bottom, all within an incuse oval cartouche. The republican motto LIBERTE - EGALITE / FRATERNITE arcs across the upper portion of the reverse in two lines. Flanking the central numeral on either side are decorative cornucopia-like arrangements of fruit and foliage, including clusters of grapes and other produce, rendered in fine relief and contributing to the overall art-deco character of the design. The fields are smooth and unadorned, consistent with the pre-series trial nature of the piece.
