Obverse description Irregularly shaped, small hammered potin flan of dark olive-brown patina. The obverse bears faint traces of a royal symbol or dynastic emblem, partially legible due to heavy wear and surface corrosion typical of potin alloy coinage. Remnants of an inscription in early Kannada or Brahmi-derived script are discernible in the upper field. The die work is crude and characteristic of the artisanal minting traditions of the early Kadamba dynasty of Banavasi. The flan exhibits natural porosity and surface irregularities consistent with the potin casting and hammering process.
