| Obverse description | Schematised outline head of Apollo facing left or right, rendered in the angular Celtic geometric style characteristic of late Iron Age potin coinage. A central line descends the length of the neck, and the eye is typically rendered as a ring, most commonly with a pellet at centre. The overall design reflects a progressive abstraction from earlier Massaliot prototypes, with facial features reduced to bold linear elements within the cast flan. |
