Obverse description Right-facing draped bust of Empress Elizabeth I occupies the central field, her hair elaborately coiffed and adorned with a small imperial crown. She is shown in imperial robes with visible ornamentation at the décolletage. The encircling Cyrillic legend reads the empress's full imperial title, with the mint mark and engraver's initials appearing below the truncation. The portrait is rendered in a refined Baroque style characteristic of mid-18th century Russian coinage, with fine detail in the hair and costume.
