Obverse description Draped and armored bust of Empress Catherine II facing right, her hair elaborately dressed and adorned, wearing imperial regalia including a star decoration on her chest. The effigy is rendered in a classicizing portrait style characteristic of late 18th-century Russian coinage. A Cyrillic legend encircles the bust along the periphery, interrupted at the base by the mint mark. The truncation of the bust is visible at the bottom of the field.

Reverse description Imperial Russian double-headed eagle displayed in the center of the field, with wings spread, each head surmounted by a separate crown and both heads jointly surmounted by a large imperial crown above. An orb and scepter are held in the eagle's talons, and a shield bearing the Moscow arms appears on the breast. The date is split to the left and right of the upper crown, and the Cyrillic denomination legend ПОЛУПОЛТИННИКЪ runs around the lower periphery of the coin.
