Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of Peter I facing right, wearing armour with ornate detailing visible at the shoulder and chest. The effigy is rendered in high relief in the Western European baroque portrait style. A circular Cyrillic legend runs along the entire periphery within a milled border, reading ПЕТР А ИМПЕРАТОРЬ IСАМОДЕРЖЕЦЬВСЕРОСИIСКИI, identifying the tsar as Emperor and Autocrat of all Russia. The field is flat and unadorned, with the portrait dominating the flan.
