The circular Cyrillic peripheral legend reads МОНЕТА НОВАА ЦЕНА ПОЛТIНА followed by the date 1724, meaning 'New coin, worth a Poltina'. The legend is separated by lozenge-shaped stops and runs continuously around the coin's border.
