| Reverse description | The arms of the city of Elbląg (Elbing) displayed prominently at center: a crowned shield divided horizontally, the upper half bearing a cross, the lower half featuring a checkered or barred pattern, all elaborately framed by baroque scrollwork, acanthus foliage, and floral ornaments. A small cherub or angel head appears at the top of the cartouche above the shield. The circumferential Latin legend MON ARGENT CIVIT ELBINGENS 1651 WVE encircles the central device within a beaded border, denoting this as a silver coin of the city of Elbląg, with the mintmaster's initials WVE at the base of the legend. The entire composition is struck on a square klippe flan in the baroque style. |
