| Obverse description | Elaborately engraved baroque cartouche enclosing the divided arms of Geneva: dexter, a demi-eagle displayed; sinister, a key pale. The shield is framed by ornate foliate scrollwork. Above the arms, the Christogram IHS appears within a radiant sunburst, serving as the civic and religious emblem of the Republic. The circular legend RESPUBL· GENEVEN· flanks the central design, reading left and right of the cartouche in Roman capitals. |
