Obverse description Saint Peter, nimbate, enthroned in facing position, holding keys in his left hand and a book in his right, seated above a shield of Burgundy bearing a lion at center; the figure and shield divide the surrounding Gothic legend. The entire central design is enclosed within a polylobe of twelve arcs, typical of the Burgundian gold coinage of the period, with a beaded outer border separating the inner field from the marginal inscription.
